The Culture Matters Podcast

Season 76, Episode 910: The Beyond Order Series: Rule 5

Jay Doran Season 76 Episode 910

"Something we cannot see protects us from something we do not understand. The thing we cannot see is culture, in its intrapsychic or internal manifestation. The thing we do not understand is the chaos that gave rise to culture. If the structure of culture is disrupted, unwittingly, chaos returns. We will do anything - anything - to defend ourselves against that return." - Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief

We are continuing our series today with our very own Jay Doran going through Dr. Jordan B. Peterson's book, Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life, and giving his own interpretation of the text.  This episode is taking a longer look at rule five which reads: "Do not do what you hate."  This may seem like a pretty obvious piece of advice to take, but if you really sit down and think about it, there is a pretty good chance you'll come up with something either personally or professionally.  Let's dig a little deeper on today's episode of The Culture Matters Podcast.
