The Culture Matters Podcast

Season 77, Episode 913: The Beyond Order Series: Rule 8

Jay Doran Season 77 Episode 913

"Something we cannot see protects us from something we do not understand. The thing we cannot see is culture, in its intrapsychic or internal manifestation. The thing we do not understand is the chaos that gave rise to culture. If the structure of culture is disrupted, unwittingly, chaos returns. We will do anything - anything - to defend ourselves against that return." - Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief

We are continuing our series today with our very own Jay Doran going through Dr. Jordan B. Peterson's book, Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life, and giving his own interpretation of the text.  Our focus today is on rule number eight which states: "Try and make one room in your home as beautiful as possible."  This chapter focuses on the artists and the creators and those who create and who are curious.  There are virtues that lead to implementing culture and we're going to get into all of it on this episode of The Culture Matters Podcast.
